Family Fun Night: A Bug's Life

This week we will be enjoying a Pixar classic as we shrink down to the size of a bug. Join Flik on his quest to find warrior bugs to save his ant colony from Hopper. The first step of your Family Fun Night is to make some cute recycled bottle cap bug magnets. Then keep the fun going with some delicious dirt as you settle in to watch the movie on Disney+. Recycled Milk Cap Bug Magnets

Supplies:

• Milk Jug Caps

• Small Glue Dots

• Glitter

• Small Googly Eyes

• Pipe Cleaners

• Craft Magnet Strips

• Hot Glue

• Scissors

Directions:

1. Thoroughly clean and dry your bottle caps.

2. Place glue dots on top of your bottle cap where you would like to make spots.

   

3. Pour the glitter on the bottle cap. It is best to do this over a bowl or other container. The glitter will only stick to the glue dots.

4. If you want to do multiple dot colors just repeat steps two and three with a new color of glitter.

5. Use the glue dots to attach the googly eyes.

   

6. Cut the pipe cleaners to a length you like. You might make them short for a beetle and long and bent for a spider as two examples. Attach the legs to the underside of the bottle cap with hot glue.

   

7. Cut a piece of card board enough that it will fit inside the bottle cap flush with the edge. Glue the cardboard to the underside of the bottle cap with hot glue.

8. Glue a piece of magnet to the cardboard.

Dessert Dirt

Ingredients:

• Instant Chocolate Pudding Mix

  

• Oreos

• Gummy Bugs

• Gummy Worms

Supplies:

• Clear Dessert Cups

• Gallon Ziplock Bag

• Rolling Pin

Directions:

1. Make the chocolate pudding according to the package directions. 

2. Mix the gummy bugs into the chocolate pudding.

   

3. Scoop the chocolate pudding into the dessert cups until they are almost full.

4. Place the Oreos in the gallon ziplock bag. Make sure all the air is removed from the bag and crush the Oreos with the rolling pin. Sprinkle on top of the pudding.

5. Place half a gummy worm on top coming out of the pudding.

6. Refrigerate until you are ready to serve.
