Top 10 Toy Story Moments
Toy Story has been
giving us all so many feels since 1995 when it was Pixar’s first full length
movie. Today, June 30th, 2018, is another landmark day for the
franchise with the opening of Toy Story Land in Disney’s Hollywood Studios in
Florida. To mark this momentous occasion, we at ExtraordinEAR Gear have decided
to hold a movie marathon and pick our top ten funny, sad, and heartwarming moments
with these lovable toys! There will be spoilers, but I’m sure you have all seen
these movies a hundred times too.
10. The Opening of Toy
Story 3
Seeing into Andy’s imagination reminds us of when we were
kids and something as simple as a box held a world of possibility. No movie
makes us feel nostalgic about childhood quite like the Toy Story movies.
9. Pizza Planet
People who pay close attention to Pixar movies will notice
the Pizza Planet rocket in quite a few. In the original Toy Story we get to see inside the famous restaurant as Buzz and
Woody try to reunite with Andy. This is also where we meet the little green men
and learn about “the claw” (you just read that in the little green men voice
didn’t you?).
8. Toys Crossing the Street
This scene always made me laugh as a kid. Buzz leads a group
of toys across a major road in Toy Story
2 while on a quest to save Woody. If anybody ever questions whether or not
little things can have a big impact, they need only look at the extreme damage
caused by a bunch of little toys disguised as orange cones.
7. Jessie Tells Woody About Emily
This is one of the saddest scenes in the franchise which is
why it makes this list. While we love the comedy and stories about friendship
in other parts of the movies, what we love most is being able to relate to
normally inanimate objects, even as adults, so much that we can understand
their sadness. This scene definitely made me never want to get rid of a toy
when I was a kid.
6. Falling With Style
This is technically two scenes, but they perfectly sum up
Buzz’s character arch in the original movie so I’m putting them on my list as
one. Buzz goes from a delusional toy that thinks he can really fly, to one who
accepts his role as a toy and is cool with it. This is actually really good
life advice now that I think about it.
5. “You’ve Got A Friend In Me”
This song = automatic feels. Nuf said. The continual
devotion of Andy’s toys is not only heartwarming, but also a great reminder of
the kind of friend we should all strive to be.
4. The Garbage Dump
Throughout the years, Pixar has provided us with plenty of
moments that make even the toughest movie goer weepy. Watching the toys we have
all grown to love almost get incinerated in Toy
Story 3 just might be the saddest moment ever in a Pixar movie. No matter
how many times I have seen this movie, I still tear up at this scene.
3. The Airport
This sequence has everything from the comedy of an inside
look at luggage transportation to heartwarming moments when Jessie finally
trusts her new friends. It is an epic end to one of the best sequels ever
created.
2. Revenge of The Toys
It is always very satisfying to watch the bad guy get their comeuppance.
After mutilating toys for years, Sid finally faces retribution when Woody leads
a revolt to save Buzz at the end of the original movie. Let this be a reminder
to all, play nicely with your toys and they will be endlessly devoted to you.
Be mean and they might band together to give you scarring memories and a trip
to a therapist.
1. Andy Passes His Toys On
For three movies, we all rooted for the toys as they fought
to return to Andy. Finally, it is time to admit that Andy has grown up and will
always love them, but probably won’t keep playing with them. However, the cool
thing for the toys is that there will always be more kids like Andy and Bonnie
who are willing to love them.
"You've Got A Friend In Me" gets me every time. );
